The spotlight of entrepreneurship: Grades 3 & 4 visit JATA

On Wednesday, 18 March, our grade 3 and 4 entrepreneurs stepped into the world of performing arts at JATA (Johannesburg Academy for Theatre Arts). This wasn’t just a trip to a studio; it was a masterclass in building a business from a passion. Our entrepreneurs had the incredible privilege of hearing from Anitra, the founder of JATA. Anitra’s story is a perfect example of how “Learning Bricks” like grit and skill can evolve into a successful enterprise. Her impressive background includes:

  • International experience: Performing in world-renowned musicals like CATS and Oklahoma.
  • Award-winning talent: She’s a Naledi Award nominee and a qualified modern dance teacher.
  • The entrepreneurial leap: In 2018, Anitra took her years of stage experience and translated them into a business, founding JATA to nurture the next generation of performers.

"Learning by doing" in the studio

After the inspiring talk, our entrepreneurs didn’t just sit back – they got moving! The grade 3s and 4s took over the dance and drama studios, experiencing the discipline and energy required in the performing arts industry. They saw firsthand that being an artist requires the same determination and focus as being a CEO. Thank you, JATA, for hosting us and showing our learners that when you combine talent with an entrepreneurial mindset, the world is your stage!
