Michelle Bester – Grade 1 Guide

I have been both a teacher and university lecturer for more than twenty years.

I am very passionate in what I do and my motto over the years has always been one word “Empowerment”. In a nutshell it means “the practice of motivating yourself or others to accomplish important goals or objectives. It helps enable people to take initiative, make decisions for themselves and solve complex problems”.

This is why I am so privileged to be a guide at Radley Private School. Radley Private School emphasizes the uniqueness of each entrepreneur from Grade RR- Grade 12, and allows them to think and express their own ideas. Thinking “out of the box” is an important aspect in the journey of education and when encouraged from an early age leads to well-rounded individuals who are able to contribute to society and become “job creators and not job seekers” (Radley Private School 2015).

A saying I have always appreciated is “It takes four hours to cut down a tree with a blunt ax, and one hour with a sharp ax”. Radley Private School uses the “sharp ax” by ensuring good quality education with immediate support for its entrepreneurs. Finding barriers in a timeous manner contributes to the wellbeing of the students personal, academic and entrepreneurial journey.

I can say with confidence that our entrepreneurs are “Real World Ready” on exiting Grade 12. I hope to stay in the Radley family for many years to come.
